Not far from Pegasus Restaurant is the famous Erie County Fair. Sitting on 275 Acres, the fair is located at 5600 McKinley Pkwy Hamburg, NY 14075 with an entrance only city blocks from the restaurant.
Calendar of Events at Fairgrounds
The Erie County Agricultural Society is a private not-for-profit membership corporation, which annually produces the America’s Fair, the Erie County Fair. The Society is the oldest civic organization in western New York, established in 1819. The Society does not receive funding from New York State or from the County of Erie.
MIDWAY
James E. Strates Shows has played the fair since 1924 and still provides the midway with approximately 70 rides and 100 games.
Originally, the Hamburg location for the Fair was 12 acres. Over the years, The Fairgrounds have grown to cover 275 acres. Likewise, the Fair began as a one-day event held in the fall. It too has grown to become an 12-day event held each August.
Also located at 5600 McKinley Parkway Hamburg Fairgrounds Hamburg, NY 14075, the Buffalo Raceway has Always Free Admission and Free Parking. Exciting Races- Fine Dining – Hot Gaming!!! Live racing Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights - first post time 6:40 pm.
In 1990, Buffalo Raceway was purchased by the Erie County Agricultural Society from Sportservice Corporation. The society has intensified the program to keep the raceway as a quality harness facility and major economic contributor to the Western New York area.
Fairgrounds Gaming opened in March 2004 to rave reviews. With over 900 Video Gaming Machines (VGM) customers had more ways to win. A portion of each dollar from the VGM’s is designated for purses and education.
For the 2010 racing season over $250,000 was spent on improvements. The 1/2 mile track was resurfaces with over 600 tons of material, in October. The Clubhouse had extensive renovations that included new carpet, paint and flat screen televisions.
